what are little boys made of? 20.11.2011

what are little boys made of?
snakes and snails and crazy tall tales…
and hopes & dreams… and strength & courage,
and imagination & daring… and gifts & talents,
and yearning & learning… and faith & optimism,
and purpose… and meaning.
and warmth… and tenderness,
and adventure… and enthusiasm,
and caring… and understanding,
and honor… and integrity,
and family… and friendship,
and love… and loyalty,
and joy & laughter… and moments & memories,
and success & satisfaction… and all things possible.
that’s what little boys are made of.

Life is good. {eden…} 25.08.2011

wow, its been such a long time since I’ve blogged. so much has happened, so much has changed, so many happy moments, so much love…
so our little bubba angel boy has finally arrived! towards the end i was honestly beginning to wonder if i would ever go into labour. in fact, just 2 hours before it all began i was saying how i’d had no feelings whatsoever of anything happening anytime soon… how wrong i was!
we were at our friend’s house having a coffee catch up after dinner and laughing at The Glee Project when i started to feel a little queasy, so we called it a night and headed home. In the 10 minute drive it took to get home, things got a little rhythmic so we excitedly hoped it could be IT. The next 16 hours were definitely the best of my life. Amazing! I think I learnt more in those few hours about the depth of love, stability and strength I find in Brett than I have in the 7 years I’ve known him.
Also, the bond of family and the joy of new life. I learnt LOTS about laughing gas, mainly being that it doesn’t make you laugh when you’re in labour.
Then… he. was. born. On Saturday the 23rd of July at 12:51pm, weighing 9lb 12oz, Eden Flynn Hayden arrived. As he took his first breath, it was as though our lives had only just began at that moment. Like we had known him all along, but been separated by a long journey that felt like forever… and he had finally returned home. All of a sudden everything was complete, the world perfect. So much awe and amazement, such a miracle.
My mum has always said “you’ll never know how much I love you until you have a child of your own…” So true. These are a few photos that I think capture life at the moment perfectly…
